Captain's Log

Real talk? I know too many people that make either my friends or myself feel bad for the things we like.

Heck yes it’s gonna happen. We should pick a day, though, because I’m running out of those… >_>

Oh that’s true man. You need to tell me how many weeks you’re still here so that we can plan accordingly.

I love to see children who are so delicate and gentle with animals.  It warms my heart amidst a sea of brats pulling cats’ tails and getting whacked.

Also JESUS THAT’S A SNUGGLY CHICKEN.

I love how she reaches up on her tippy toes to snuggle into his shoulder.

To be more exact, that’s a hen. Which is the female. This is likely not his first encounter with her. My grandpa had chickens and hens, and if you visit them frequently like this they develop affection to you. I would know, because I sat in the chicken coop alot. The hens get a small maternal kick, and come to cuddle you because she wants to keep you warm, like she would do with her chicks. This means the boy has spent alot of time with her, and that just makes it more heart warming.

Another GIF from the Korra season 3 finale.
More beautiful animation- I love how she twists as she takes off that rock pillars’ top.
There were some insane awesome shots in both episodes and great choreography for the action sequences.

This whole exterior action sequence between Korra and Zaheer is co-executive producer Joaquim Dos Santos’ storyboarding/fight choreography masterpiece, especially the 20-plus-second continuous flying shot. It was a herculean undertaking, and he had some help cleaning up a few of the scenes by Owen Sullivan (on this one) and Shaun O’Neil. If you didn’t already know it, Joaquim is a force of nature when it comes to action animation!

I am SO proud of this sequence! It was a TON of work for all involved but looking at this final product I think we can all agree that the juice was worth the squeeze. Remember this is “TV animation” folks….. So many stars aligned to make not only this sequence but this entire series possible. From the writing to the acting to the design to the boards through the final animation and last but not least the amazing sound fx and score! Not sure when we’ll get another one like it.

"Of Aang’s three children, Bumi was the one who most encapsulated his father’s penguin-sledding spirit."

- Bumi’s Bio on The Official Nickelodeon Website.

I see so much of Aang in Bumi, which is why his feelings of disconnect from his father break my heart.
